11th September. Stop. Think. Don't complain about the rain.
My daughter was just a few months old when the worlds worst terrorist attack took place on September 11th 2001. Even though we were on the other side of the world, and were glued to the TV all night watching the mornings horror unfolding in New York, the events of 9-11 were shocking to me. The early reports were like a movie. A what hit the World Trade Center? Nearly 3000 people died in the attacks.
My daughter is now 7. This weekend we hope for a bit of sunshine as we have a school parade starting 7am in Phuket Town. The week so far has been far from sunny! Yesterday morning looked hopeful, but got very wet in the afternoon and evening. The previous few days have seen rain, dark skies, occasional bright patches, faint glimmers of sunshine, some gusty winds (though it looks calmer now) - not the bezxt week of the year in Phuket! But we soldier on. What's a bit of rain? You won't dissolve, you're not made of sugar (was the argument put forth by by old friend Rob, captain of the cycling club). At least its not freezing cold here!
Come on the sun!
World Weather - Holy Cow, having creamed Cuba it looks like Hurricane Ike might hit New Orleans, or at least somewhere not too far away to the west in Texas. Haven't they had enough yet?
Hope to see you soon in Phuket!
